Mill Valley community map
Mill Valley Chamber needed to provide area visitors a reference map for local shops, restaurants, and services—additionally, serving as an introduction to Mill Valley.
The main objective of this project was to establish a map brand that depicts Mill Valley, California’s lovely character. I established the running keywords of picturesque, slightly-rugged, adventurous, easy-going, and plentiful to guide me through graphic element development.
The map’s utility is crucial. The map will needed to consider legibility, readability, and usability. Fold lines for the map’s twelve pleats were given special attention, avoiding heavy coverage of graphic elements along those lines to reduce crease obstruction. Graphic elements demanded simplicity and tailoring for good printing and readability.
